The interview is the second step in the job application process. The first step that an applicant has successfully completed was sending your application and passing the screening process of the company.

There are a number of ways that a CV will reach an employer, either through a website where the jobs vacancies were posted, a referral from a fellow business manager, through a head hunter or simply by having it sent directly to them.

When you have a job interview, remember these following tips.;

Before the day of your interview make sure you have done your homework on the history of the company and their future plans if these are available.

You could have a run through of the interview with friends or family so that you think about some of the questions you are likely to be asked and have an answer prepared for them.

When you go for an interview, it is best to always arrive 10 to 15 minutes ahead of time as this shows employers that the person is punctual and serves as a good attribute in a potential employee, but don’t be too early.

You should take a copy of your CV to the interview in case you are asked any specific questions about what you have written. If your job is all about creativity, you might want to take along a portfolio of your work.

It is always best to dress appropriately. If you turn up in a casual outfit you are not showing the employer that you really want the job. Even small things like your fingernails and hair should be kept groomed. The outfit worn should be professional. Do not try to make a fashion statement by wearing bright colours or very high shoes. If you typically wear a lot of jewellery, it is advisable to remove and tone it down for the interview.

You need to start your interview off in a positive manner so give a warm smile and firm handshake to your interviewer.

In order to give great answers, you need to listen carefully to all the questions your interviewer asks you. make sure you do not lie but be confident with your skills and experience so you present the best of yourself.

Thank the interviewer for their time and the opportunity once you have finished the interview.
